Edith Cavell commission

I'm thrilled to announce that I have been commissioned by the Sheringham & Cromer Choral Society ( to write a major new work to commemorate the centenary next year of the outbreak of World War 1.  The work will celebrate the courage and faith of Edith Cavell ( the Norfolk nurse who was executed in Belgium in 1915 and who is buried  - and still much remembered - in Norwich Cathedral.

The Society has done a great job of obtaining a significant grant from the Arts Council England towards the cost of commissioning and performing this new choral work.

The premiere will take place in Norwich Cathedral in July 2014 and performers at the premiere will include the wonderful Elin Manahan Thomas (, the English Chamber Orchestra and a children's choir from students attending the international Britten Music Course at Gresham's.

Further performances are planned, so keep an eye on the Events page of my website for up-to-date information (
